Anime-influenced Art

Anime-influenced art has become quite popular for young artists and adults alike. If you lived in Japan, “anime” would refer to any kind of animated cartoon, but outside of Japan many people associate “anime” with a distinctly Japanese style of animation. Anime-influenced characters and art have found their way into a variety of media, including comic books (often called manga), television shows, and films.

Anime characters often have very distinct facial expressions or features. You may recognize some of the characters in Sara’s anime-inspired art, or at least recognize the style. If they are new to you, you may want to investigate more about Shouko Nishimiya, who is the main character of her own manga book that has been turned into a movie. So, in addition to being anime-influenced, these are also examples of Fan Art.

If you’re in front of the NRV Board Shop at 85 W. Main St., you can see this anime-influenced art, but you get a double stamp on your game card! The street number is 85 and you can add that to the blocks on your game card for ANIME and FAN ART.
