Second Saturday Online Workshop: Where “Zen” Meets Doodling (FREE Workshop: Jan. 9, 2:00 pm)
This is a sample of a variety of doodles or “tangles” within segments drawn on a piece of paper.
Perhaps you’ve seen this form of art known as “zendoodles” or the Zentangle® Art Method created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas in the U.S. This couple was looking for a way to invite the “non-artist” to combine art with a form of meditation or quieting the mind, and this is the result! It can also be seen as a form of art which mirrors the geometric and fractal nature of the patterns found throughout creation.
“I was introduced to the Zentangle Method while attending a creative retreat in 2011, and I’ve been hooked on this form of art ever since. What I love about this art form is that when I’m done ‘doodling,’ I feel like I’ve really made some art – an accomplishment for someone who doesn’t see herself as an artist!” says this workshop’s facilitator, Terrie Sternberg
The benefits of zendoodling:
Relaxation / Meditation & Mental Focus
Expand your imagination
Notice patterns in the created order and everyday
Trust your creativity
Enjoy playing with contrast, weight, flow, movement as you draw
Become part of a supportive and fun community of tanglers
Appreciate the beauty of a seemingly simple line art process
Have fun!

Black ink pen or two! A very fine line pen is ideal, along with a medium tip pen. Also nice to use, but not necessary: Sakura Black Pigma Micron Pens or equivalent -- .05 and .1 or .2 make good widths for really fine drawing and detail.
