Ernie Ross returns by popular demand to offer this class focusing on landscape paintings using Acrylic. This course is beginner friendly and will include five Saturday sessions.

Ernie Ross is an award-winning artist and popular local art teacher. Ernie is known for acrylics and watercolors on canvases, paper, and other media. He has taught acrylic and watercolor classes for 20 years at the Fine Arts Center and elsewhere.

Materials List for this class:

Pad of acrylic paper. It comes in tablets online, at art stores, or the Canson brand at Walmart. Any size is fine:  8 ½ x 11, 9 x 12 or 11 x 14

Blue Painter’s tape (¾ or 1-inch)

T-square (12-inch)

Synthetic brushes for oil or acrylic (not for watercolor)

  • #12 flat brush

  • Fan brush (medium)

  • ½ inch & 1 inch long liner brushes

  • Medium and large round brushes

  • Filbert brush

  • Angular brush

  • Additional brushes or assortment of brushes welcome

Acrylic paint selections

  • 8 oz. White (such as Delta Ceramcoat)

  • 8 oz. Black (such as DecoArt Americana)

  • 2 oz. Ultramarine Blue

  • 2 oz. Saffron Yellow

  • 2 oz. Tuscan Red

Sea sponge

White Pastel Pencil

Retarder is optional but recommended

Consider bringing a hair dryer if you’re able. There will be some at the Center for students to share.

A cleaning rag (like the blue or red rags mechanics use; not terry cloth)

11” x 14” board - plexiglass drawing board or other smooth substrate to tape paper to while working on it.

Also: Ernie says to bring any paint colors desired in the small craft paint bottles. The Center will also have a mix of paints. 

Many of these supplies can be purchased from your favorite online or brick-and-mortar art store, including Amazon, Blick, Cheap Joe’s, JOANN, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Plaid, Walmart and others.
