Five Southwest Virginia Artists Honored in 2025 National Awards

We are pleased to announce that five teen artists from Southwest Virginia were honored with Gold or Silver Keys in the national adjudication of the Scholastic Art Awards. One student, Aliyah (Yammy) Williams, from the Burton Center for Arts & Tech in Salem, is also a winner of an American Visions Medal, Scholastic’s highest honor. Congratulations to the following students:

  • Sky Standley, Blacksburg High School, Blacksburg, Silver Medal for Sleepys (Expanded Projects)

2025 American Visions Nominees and Scholarship Winners from Southwest Virginia

Each year, the judge’s select the top five high school entries across all categories as the American Visions nominees from Southwest Virginia. These five works compete at the national level for an American Visions Awards. In addition, the judges selected one entry for the Outstanding Middle School Entry. Beginning in 2023, the artists of all top works receive a $250 scholarship from the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley.
