Meet the Artist: Debby Freed – A Farewell Celebration in Clay

Join us Saturday, August 2 from 3 to 4 PM at our Blacksburg gallery to meet our current Blacksburg Featured Artist: Debby Freed. This event is more than just a meet-and-greet: it’s your last opportunity to see Debby’s work locally before she moves away from the New River Valley.

Debby is known for her whimsical ceramic sculptures, built by hand using traditional techniques like pinch, slab, and coil construction. Her inspirations come from the animals around her, both wild and domestic, captured in clay with charm, curiosity, and playfulness.

In addition to her artistic practice, Debby has deep ties to the area through her work at Virginia Tech and her involvement in the old-time fiddlers community. Her presence has enriched our creative culture, and she will be dearly missed.

We hope you’ll stop by to celebrate Debby’s work and wish her well on her next chapter.
