Friday and Saturday Happenings at Our Blacksburg Location

This Friday: “How to Create Accurate Line Drawings Using a Grid” with Lisa Wood

Join us this Friday, May 23, for a hands-on workshop designed to boost your drawing confidence! If you've ever struggled to create accurate line drawings from a photo, this class is for you. Instructor Lisa Wood will guide participants through the grid method—a powerful technique that helped her on her artist journey to become a commissioned artist. Learn how to draw up a grid, enlarge or reduce images, avoid common mistakes, and more. Bring a photo of your choice and get ready to practice skills that can transform your artwork. Don’t miss it!

This Saturday: Meet the Artist Opportunity and Artist Demos with Tara Fowlkes

Join us in Blacksburg on Saturday, May 24 from noon to 5:00 pm for a special meet-the-artist event (complete with artist demonstrations).

Tara Fowlkes, a lifelong artist based in Blacksburg, brings her passion for creating with natural materials to our Blacksburg gallery; we are proud to have her work displayed in our featured artist nook and to have her nature based pieces displayed in a wooded outdoor setting beside our Center. She is known for her ethically sourced dreamcatchers, and pieces incorporating found objects, vines and branches, and other organic materials.

Artist Demonstrations:

Tara will use this afternoon to make wreaths and tie shells onto beaver sticks. She will show visitors how to make dream catchers and peace signs out of sticks.

You'll leave inspired by what can be created with just a few natural elements.

Location: 860 University City Blvd, Suite 105, Blacksburg, VA 24060

This event is free and open to all (donations will be accepted). We look forward to seeing you there!
