American Roots Perform in Our Listening Room this Friday, May 2
Join us on Friday, May 2 as we welcome American Roots—the incredible father/son duo Fred and Jon Benfield—to close out the 2024–25 First Friday Listening Room season!
Based in Blacksburg and performing together for nearly three decades, Fred and Jon bring heartfelt harmonies, masterful guitar work, and a deep love for American music traditions to the stage. From the Carter Family to Gershwin, their set is a musical tapestry of Appalachian blues, Piedmont swing, tin pan alley tunes, and “folkgrass” favorites.
As Crooked Road Artists, they honor the legacy of Southern Appalachia while exploring the wide world of Americana. It’s the kind of music that tells stories, stirs memories, and brings people together.
